Transfer Rumor: Fluminense Prospect Robert Gonçalves to Orlando?

This winter has been chock full of rumors of players coming to play for Orlando City SC and it appears that trend will continue.

Multiple news outlets in Brazil are reporting that 18-year-old Fluminense product Robert Gonçalves will be loaned to Orlando City for the 2015 season.

The 18-year-old midfielder has only made one appearance for the Fluminense first team and has made eight appearances for the Brazilian national U-17 squad. Bleacher Report did an article about him back in 2013 about how he is “the best player you’ve not yet heard of.” Within the article, there’s a little highlight video of some of his work back when he was only 16 years old. He looks quite impressive.

If he does end up coming to Orlando on loan, he could be a very good weapon for Head Coach Adrian Heath coming off the bench. His speed and ball control look to be very good and at only 18 years old, there’s room for him to improve. He plays the same position as Kaká, and the former World Player of the Year’s tutelage would be very beneficial for his young countryman.

All of this, however is still a big “IF” since there is no official word on the truth of the loan deal. At this point, we will just have to wait and see what unfolds on this latest international transfer rumor.
