Orlando City Game Day Guide

With 62,000 people converging on the Orlando Citrus Bowl this Sunday, things are going to be decidedly different from previous years. Here is what you need to know to help make your game day experience easier and safer.

Getting to the Game:

Driving: With parking around the Citrus Bowl available through Ticketmaster, most of the parking lots directly around the stadium are sold out. This means if you haven't already purchased parking, you will need to either park with an independent neighborhood lot, or park downtown and take advantage of the Lynx LYMMO shuttles.

Sunrail: Trains will be running before and after the game. This is a special game day service and will be free for all riders. The March 8 service schedule can be found at this link here. After arriving at Church Street you can then take the Lynx LYMMO shuttle to the stadium.

Lynx: The above mentioned LYMMO shuttles will run at five-minute intervals, with continuous service starting at 2 p.m. This service is only for the Grapefruit and Orange lines, providing service between downtown Orlando and the Citrus Bowl. There are a number of stops around Orlando, including the Church Street Station Sunrail stop. Here is a complete map of this transportation network.

Pregame:

Tailgating: The Orlando Citrus Bowl city parking lots have a number of rules concerning this American tradition and Orlando City game day mainstay. Kegs are prohibited, as are loud speakers, fireworks, weapons, and disorderly contact. No tents bigger than 10' x 10' are allowed. Mostly just use common sense and respect your fellow fans. Tailgating is not allowed at the Jones High School parking lot.

FanFest: Orlando City will have a fan fest starting at 2 p.m. on Rio Grande Avenue on the east side of the stadium. There will be entertainment, live music, food, a beer garden, a kids' zone, and various other festivities.

The Game:

Tickets: Sold Out! Your only chance at buying a ticket officially is purchasing one of the limited season tickets that remain. Those are going fast. This game is standing room only. You could also try after-market services, such as StubHub.

Prohibited Items: Here is the down low on all the items you can't bring into the stadium: Air horns, any size backpacks, any bags larger than 14" x 14" x 6," bottles, cameras with detachable lenses, cans, carts, coolers, bicycles, fireworks, any hard container, illegal drugs, laptops, laser pointers, megaphones, noisemakers (bells, horns, vuvuzelas, whistles, cowbells, etc.), outside food and drink, pets (except service animals), poles longer than 12 inches, soccer balls and other sports equipment, selfie-sticks, skateboards, umbrellas, video or audio recorders. Any signs must be smaller than two feet by two feet, and must not contain any derogatory or indecent language.

Fan Code of Conduct: The Major League Soccer and Orlando City official code of conduct is as follows:

• No chants with inappropriate language, including any comments regarding racism, sexual orientation, ethnicity, etc.
• No signs with inappropriate language.
• No misbehavior, such as throwing non-approved objects, disorderly conduct, abusive gestures, etc.
• No flares, incendiary devices, smoke bombs, sparklers and fireworks of any kind without official approval.
• No bullying.
• Alcoholic beverages must be consumed in a responsible manner and only by those of legal age.
• Refrain from activates that damage the reputation of Orlando City SC or MLS.
• All other rules and regulations set by the Orlando Citrus Bowl.

Post Game:

Driving: In an effort to ease the exit from the Citrus Bowl, Orlando City has prepaid the tolls for vehicles leaving the Citrus Bowl parking lots between 7 and 8 p.m. and entering SR 408 from the Orange Blossom Trail ramp.

Lynx: There will be a free continuous bus service between the Citrus Bowl and downtown, with 40 buses to get fans downtown after the game to various locations downtown.

Sunrail: There will be two post-game trains leaving Church Street Station. Consult schedule for times.

As a reminder, there is also an Orlando Magic game Sunday evening at 6 p.m. These fans will be using the same Sunrail, Lynx, and downtown parking as Orlando City fans. The best way to experience this historic day is to plan ahead, come early, and bring your patience. Go City!
