As the March 28 season opener against Saint Louis FC approaches, Orlando City SC’s USL affiliate continues to finalize its roster. LCFC announced the signing of Nate Polak, a forward who started in the club’s only exhibition match as a trial player.

"Nate has been in camp with us since last month and he's been impressive during this time," Louisville City head coach James O'Connor said via release. "With his goal-scoring ability and his past accomplishments, we are confident Nate will make an immediate impact with the squad."

A former NAIA All-American and National Champion at Hastings College, Polak was a 2012 MLS Supplemental Draft pick of the New York Red Bulls — the same draft that notably saw USA international Miguel Ibarra drafted by the Portland Timbers. However, his professional future wouldn’t lie in Harrison, NJ, but instead saw him join Minnesota United FC of the NASL, where he would be teammates with Ibarra.

Polak also has experience in the USL, having spent last season on loan with the OKC Energy, where he made six appearances and was a teammate of Louisville City defender Tarek Morad.

"I am beyond excited for this next step in my career and look forward to helping Louisville City FC pursue a USL championship this season," Polak said, via statement. "Everything about the club has been amazing since my arrival and the talent of this group of players has made for some really fun soccer. Good things lie ahead as we continue to improve and gel every day."

Polak, 25, becomes the 14th player to sign with Louisville City FC and joins Matt Fondy as the only players listed at forward.

University of Louisville Friendly is On

If you've watched our new show "UpRoar" (and if you haven't, shame on you) you'd know that Louisville, KY, has been a snow covered, winter wonderland over the last few weeks, as the city has been hit with a couple of heavy snowstorms. Last week, the snow claimed its third Louisville City FC game of the of the preseason, as the scheduled match against the University of Louisville Cardinals was cancelled due to snow accumulation on the field.

However, the weekend brought warmer temperatures, and with it some melting of snow, and so the match has been rescheduled for Wednesday evening at 7 p.m. If you bought a ticket for the original match date, it will be accepted at the game Wednesday night. Otherwise, tickets are $5. The gates at Lynn Stadium will open at 6 p.m.

The Mane Land will be represented at the match on Wednesday, so be sure to follow along with me on twitter and to check back in here next week for the update.
