Louisville City Signs Former Lion, Prepares for Loaded Stretch

Louisville City FC has signed former Orlando City midfielder Aodhan Quinn, the club announced Monday. Quinn, 23, comes to Louisville City having previously played with Bryan Burke and Louisville Head Coach James O’Connor while with Orlando City, making 16 appearances for the Lions in their final year in USL.

"We are delighted to have Aodhan on board," O'Connor said. "He is a very good footballer and is someone I know very well from my time in Orlando. He has tremendous talent and will be another attacking threat for us in the midfield."

Quinn played college soccer at Bradley University before transferring to the famous Akron Zips program where he was named MAC Player of the Year in 2013. While there, he played under the guidance of current Portland Timbers Head Coach Caleb Porter for one season and counted Deandre Yedlin of Tottenham Hotspur, Wil Trapp and Chad Barson of the Columbus Crew, Darren Mattocks of the Vancouver Whitecaps, and Dillon Serna of the Colorado Rapids among his colleagues.

Quinn's father, Brian, is an Irish born, ex-U.S. international from the early 1990s, and was head coach of the San Jose Clash in Major League Soccer from 1997-1999. Aodhan is listed as a midfielder and will be available for Louisville's Tuesday night match against the Wilmington Hammerheads.

Louisville Finally Gains Much Needed Depth

With the addition of both Quinn and Orlando City loanee Sidney Rivera, Louisville City finally has the depth that O’Connor has so desperately been looking for, and just in the nick of time.

"We've got a big week," O'Connor said, via a team release. "We've obviously got Wilmington on Tuesday, then Toronto and then the Open Cup. We're coming into a period now where we've got lots of games."

Lou City has been unable to field a complete 18 in the squad on match day for the past few games due to injury. However, now that there are two more names on the team sheet, O'Connor doesn't expect the stretch of six games in 19 days to be easy.

"If you look at the size of the squad, I think we need to be lucky," the former Stoke City Potter said. "For us it's a case of making sure that the intensity is right in training and control what you can control."
