In Case You Missed Sunday's Beatdown…

The L.A. Galaxy's media team put together a highlight package of the beating they received in Orlando on Sunday. Spoiler alert: You do not see any Galaxy goals.

It's good to see the defending MLS Champs have a good sense of humor when it comes to getting romped by the new kids on the block. I'd imagine they haven't made too many videos like this one.

Who's Getting Credit for the Galaxy Goal Fest

Cyle Larin, who pleased Major League Soccer’s number one analyst with his superb play on Sunday, and Kaká made MLS’s Team of the Week for their lights-out play against the Galaxy. And if you think Darwin Ceren deserves some recognition for his play for the last two weeks, Goal.com’s Team of the Week has it covered (Kaká and Larin were on the the Goal’s TOTW bench).

Eric Avila is also up for the AT&T Goal of the Week Award for his header that opened the flood gates against L.A.’s finest. Vote for it. You don’t have a choice. Besides, you never know when you’ll get another chance to vote for an Orlando City player again.

Big News for L.A.'s Other Franchise To Be

Word is Los Angeles Football Club is looking to build a $250 million stadium on the site of the Sports Arena next to Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, home of USC Trojans football. But the stadium is just the center piece of the expected development.

The 15-acre complex in Exposition Park would include a conference center, restaurants and a soccer museum in addition to the 22,000-seat stadium where the club will make its debut in 2018.

Magic Johnson, who has a minority stake in the future expansion club, says it's going to be a boon to the city of Los Angeles

"Building a new stadium in south Los Angeles will create a lot of good jobs for people who live here, also construction jobs as well," Johnson told ESPN's SportsCenter. "So I'm happy about the economic side of it too, what will happen for this area right here that we're building this state-of-the-art stadium.

Real Salt Lake Fans Are the Worst

According to The News Tribune in Tacoma, Washington, Real Salt Lake has the nastiest crowd in MLS. The tight confines of Rio Tinto Stadium and the proximity to a beer garden are key factors, but Seattle Sounders general manager Garth Lagerway cites another factor in the RSL supporters’ section’s rowdy nature.

“Utah itself is a very red state,” he said. “(But the Salt Lake City) counterculture sometimes manifests itself as anti the Mormon Church, and the Mormon Church, of course, discourages obscenity and vulgarity, as common society does. If I had to suppose, it’s folks that have something to say, and that’s the one point in their lives where they got to say it. There’s a little bit of anti-religious zealotry, if you can have such a thing.”

This makes so much sense.

What the Hell is Going On In Brazil?

We all know Kaká is on Brazil's preliminary Copa America squad (maybe a good thing, maybe not) but here's some rather bizarre news coming out of Brazil.

Brazilian publication O Estado reports that the Brazilian Football Confederation made a multi-million dollar deal to sell the rights of the Selecao quad selection to ISE, a marketing firm based in the Cayman Islands, in 2006 and a renewal in December 2011 gave the firm the ability to make squad selections along with its partners. Yeah, that's a head scratcher.

According to the paper, ISE and its holders have stipulated that a certain group of "A Team" players must feature in all international competitions, and that any potential substitutes must meet a certain marketability standard.

States the document: "CBF will guarantee and ensure that A Team players that are playing in official competitions will participate in any and every match."

This seems nine levels of ridiculous, and the Brazilians are actively denying it, but it's still a strange episode for one of international soccer's biggest brands.
