Cyle Larin Named SBI’s Rookie of the Month

Kid Fantastic himself received the nod from the folks over at Soccer By Ives after scoring three goals in May to bounce back from the April that never happened, because, if the classic motion picture Road Trip taught us anything, it’s that if you’re too drunk to remember it, it never really happened.

Larin, who was the first overall pick of the 2015 MLS Super Draft out of UConn, scored goals against DC United, the LA Galaxy and the New England Revolution to set himself apart from the rest of the pack, making it a fairly easy decision for all involved.

United States Women’s Soccer is Coming Up

Sharon B. Katz is ready, giving us five takeaways from the send-off series to get us primed and ready to go.

While noting the deficiencies in defending set pieces and finishing the attack, Katz is quick to remind us the ladies have plenty of options at forward, including the recently emerging Sydney Leroux.

“In the friendlies she led the U.S. with 16 shots,” Katz says, adding, “including 14 in the penalty area.”

Heading to Canada as the #2 ranked country behind evil Germany, the question remains, can our women prove it?

Sepp Blatter Resigns

Merely days after being re-elected, Mr. Blatter pulls red on himself, and is expected to step down after another election sometime between December and March. Blatter is entrenched in controversy regarding corrupt officials and mysterious money transfers, and the soccer world as a whole seems to want to get to the bottom of the scandal and, as quickly as possible, move on.

D.C. United Still Not Committed to D.C.

You may remember me throwing shade at D.C. in the form of their ownership being as flaky about The District as its fans were about the team. Turns out the ShadeThrower 5000 was spot on, as always, as Virginia is making a final push to get the team in Loudoun County. Representatives were said to meet in New York to talk business because, well, nobody wants to go to Virginia.

Virginia claims it can get United a stadium faster and cheaper than the District of Columbia can, and I’d have to say I believe them. I grew up around rednecks, and fast, cheap construction is right up their alley.
