It's Monday everybody.

A weekend without Orlando City is like a weekend without sunshine, but that Mexico vs. Costa Rica friendly was pretty cool right? And with a U.S. Open Cup game and Women’s World Cup semifinal on Tuesday, we’ve got plenty to look forward to this week.

So let's kick it off some Lion Links!

Looking back at Mexico vs. Costa Rica

For those of you who follow the international game, this weekend's friendly between Mexico and Costa Rica at the Citrus Bowl provided a chance to watch two CONCACAF heavyweights square off before next month's Gold Cup. Both sides played a competitive 90 minutes in a 2-2 draw in front of 53,629 at the Citrus Bowl. We've got a recap of the festivities including:

And speaking of wanting to see Chicharito in an Orlando City shirt, this happened on Twitter:

Johannsson hints at MLS move

Nobody tell Jürgen.

USMNT and AZ Alkmaar striker Aron Johannsson said he hopes to play in MLS sometime in the future "at the peak of my career."

Johannsson appeared on the radar of most US soccer fans during the run-up to last summer's World Cup, when he scored in a U.S. sendoff series game against Azerbaijan and came on early in the WC opener against Ghana, when Jozy Altidore went down with an injury.

The Icelandic-American plays his club soccer in Holland, where he was teammates with Altidore before the latter's move to Sunderland. Despite an injury-riddled campaign in 2014-2015, Johannsson was able to make an impact late in the season for AZ, as the club qualified for next season's Europa league.

Johannsson's statement is notable because of his insistence that an MLS move would only come during the prime of his career. That's the kind of mindset the league is hoping to curate among top European players, and while Johannsson still has a long way to go before he's a bona fide star, this a move that could pay huge dividends for the league and for Johannsson himself.

Mix Diskerud Launches Line of Limited-Editon MIX Hats

Whether or not you watch this video (I won't judge you), be aware of the following phrases contained within:

  • "They look pretty fresh"
  • "I'm a hat guy, you're a hat guy"
  • "I met with the designers. We had many discussions back and forth."
  • The one guy who interrupts the interview and yells "Mix is a legend!"

We all love Mix Diskerud, but let's try and keep this in proportion. Until he designs a line of toupees, I won't really be interested.

Gerrard Gets Tame Welcome from LA Galaxy Fans

We're not sure that the shaky video does this story much justice, but it seems that only a few Galaxy fans were on hand at the airport to welcome DP Steven Gerrard to the United States. This story says less than 10 fans were there to greet the EPL legend.

Copa America Roundup: Tragedy for Paraguayan Star, Brazil in Shambles

As the fantastic Copa America is coming to a head in Chile, the stories continue to emerge. With Paraguay knocking out mighty Brazil on penalties Saturday night, Gab Marcotti of ESPNFC.com writes that Kaká's national team is in shambles. On the Paraguayan side, PK hero Derlis Gonzalez learned that his uncle died of a heart attack while celebrating his country's win over Brazil. It's a terrible tragedy for Gonzalez and his family, and another one of those things that puts sports in perspective.
