A new week awaits the Lions and their supporters. We’re one day closer to a friendly between OCSC and West Bromwich Albion, and even though Orlando City will have a limited squad against our friends from across the pond, who doesn’t look forward to extra soccer?

Promotions and Nominations Abound for Orlando City Administration

Orlando City made some news in the front office, as Alex Wolf was promoted to Vice President of Gameday Operations. Wolf’s last position was as Senior Director of Operations. Wolf has been with the team since its original inception in Austin in 2008.
The Lions also have an employee up for a community award. OCSC’s Nicole LaBosco is up for MLS’s Community MVP. LaBosco, a videographer for the Lions, is representing the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in her nomination. Show your Orlando City support and vote for her here.

Berahino Joins West Bromwich Albion for Orlando City Friendly

As West Bromwich Albion looks to add to their squad, one more player will be on hand when they take on OCSC. Saido Berahino, who missed time in late June with ligament damage to his knee, flew with the team to Orlando. This is a significant addition, as West Brom had talks stall with Queen Park Rangers’ Matt Phillips and are in the process of bringing in Arsenal’s Serge Gnabry on a season-long loan. With coach Tony Pulis bringing in more strikers to the club, the Birmingham Mail’s Brad Poole feels Berahino could thrive in a new role.

USMNT Comes from Behind for 1-1 Draw with Panama in Gold Cup

Although the United States Men’s National Team clinched Group A with its win over Haiti on Friday, it still had one Gold Cup group stage match left to play against Panama on Monday. The U.S. played a sloppy first half that saw Panama go ahead 1-0 in the 34th minute on the strength of Blas Pérez’s opener. America would not be shut out, though, as Alejandro Bedoya found Michael Bradley in front of goal for a tap-in equalizer in minute 55 to give the U.S. a point at Sporting Park in Kansas City.

Following the 1-1 draw, USMNT manager Jürgen Klinsmann can now make up to six substitutions to his roster by tomorrow night prior to the knockout stages of the tournament.

Hamid Out 4-6 Weeks With Hand and Knee Injuries

The injury bug bites D.C. United goalkeeper Bill Hamid again this season.

Hamid, who missed time earlier this year with a thigh injury, is out 4-6 weeks after undergoing surgery to his left hand and right knee. The team said procedures were executed to release the flexor tendon in the hand and smooth out the meniscus in the knee. Hamid, who has 59 saves in 16 games, has missed three of the past seven league matches for United. Andrew Dykstra will replace Hamid as the team’s interim starting goalkeeper.

Sports Illustrated Covers Feature Entire USWNT

Sports Illustrated has put champions on their cover before, but not like this.
In an unprecedented move, Sports Illustrated will create an individual cover for all 23 players and head coach Jill Ellis commemorating the team’s World Cup win. The covers are available for pre-order now.
