Harrison Heath Leaves West Bromwich Friendly with Apparent Knee Injury

Orlando City midfielder Harrison Heath was helped off of the field in the 30th minute on Wednesday night, after suffering an apparent knee injury in a friendly match against West Bromwich Albion. There’s no word yet on the severity of the injury, but Heath looked to be in quite a bit of pain on the field.

It appeared that Heath crumbled to the Citrus Bowl turf from a non-contact injury, and after a few minutes of being checked out by team doctors, he was carried off of the field while not putting any pressure on his right knee. The immediate thought is that this could be a season-ending ACL injury, eerily similar to what Kevin Molino suffered in a May friendly against Ponte Preta.

Assuming this turns out to be as bad as it looks, it will be tough news for both Orlando City and Heath, who was set to play in the MLS Homegrown Player Game at the MLS Allstar break in August.

Update, 10:39 p.m. ET:

Head Coach Adrian Heath told reporters after the match that Harrison Heath will be reevaluated on Monday and the club is hopeful that it’ll know more on the severity of his injury.

“We’re quite hopeful that he’ll be okay” Adrian said. “He’ll have an x-ray [on Monday].”

Heath said that his son’s patella popped out and back in, which is not something that sounds as if the 19-year-old will be seeing any more game action in the coming weeks, but he is optimistic that the injury won’t leave him out for the rest of the season.
