Orlando City Announces Increased Season Ticket Capacity for 2016

Following Orlando City’s announcement in late May that its new downtown stadium would be privately funded and expanded to hold between 25,000 and 28,000 fans, the club announced Wednesday that it will be increasing the season ticket capacity for the 2016 MLS season as well.

Unlike this season, when the club had a season ticket inventory of 14,000 – which it completely sold out – the 2016 season ticket capacity will be increased to 18,000. The wait list prompted by 2015 season ticket sales currently sits at over 2,000, and the strong demand that has been shown in the club's inaugural MLS season should see the 18,000 season tickets sell out easily for next year as well.

Orlando City Founder and President Phil Rawlins spoke about the announcement in the club's official release.

"We continue to be humbled by the massive support from our fans here in Central Florida," said Orlando City Founder and President Phil Rawlins. "We achieved our goal of 14,000 season tickets this year, and registered over 2,000 people for our waitlist for 2016. With the new cap of 18,000 for 2016, we anticipate the strong fan demand will allow us to quickly sell those out as well as we work to create the most exciting home environment each and every match."

Per the release, the 2016 season ticket renewal process is currently underway, and season tickets should go on sale to the general public later this summer.
