Kakà to Miss Clash with Toronto FC

Orlando City SC confirmed Wednesday afternoon that club captain Kakà did not make the trip to Toronto with the team for Wednesday night’s game with Toronto FC. Speculation of his absence arose when a picture of the team training in Toronto Tuesday was tweeted by the club with the 33-year-old not pictured.

Kakà confirmed that he stayed in Orlando during a live Facebook fan chat Wednesday afternoon in which he stated, "Last game I had a small injury. I will be ready for Saturday. Today I will support the team with you."

The former FIFA World Player of the Year also confirmed that he will be attending Full Sail University, where he will major in Sports Marketing. He said he expects to receive his degree in two and a half years.

The midfielder’s minor injury came Saturday night in Orlando City’s 5-2 win against the Columbus Crew at the Citrus Bowl. Tonight, the Lions take on a Toronto FC team that will be missing U.S. internationals Michael Bradley and Jozy Altidore.

This will be Kaká's second absence of the MLS season. He also missed the 2-0 home loss to FC Dallas due to a red card suspension. Orlando City did not play well in that match.

The team may also still be missing defender Rafael Ramos (thigh) and midfielder Carlos Rivas (groin) who have been sidelined due to injury. Midfielder Lewis Neal, who trained this week after missing the last couple of matches, may be a replacement for the captain. He participated in training with the team earlier in the week.
