Orlando City’s Adam Bedell Is Tearing It Up In Denmark For HB Køge

Orlando City’s biggest forward signing is tearing things up with his new team — except his new team isn’t Orlando City.

Adam Bedell, acquired by the Lions from the Columbus Crew last month, was sent on loan to HB Køge of the Danish 1st Division last week by Orlando City. In two matches with the club, the 21-year-old forward has already scored four goals.

A loss for Orlando City?

He captured a hat trick in his debut with Køge on Tuesday in a Frederikssund in Denmark's DBU Cup. And on Sunday, he was at it again:

It's starting to look like Orlando City may have made a mistake by loaning Bedell out so quickly before giving him a shot with the Lions' first team, especially given the fact that Orlando has scored just two goals in its last six league matches.

In an interview with The Mane Land after Bedell was acquired, General Manager Paul McDonough mentioned that the plan was to send Bedell out on loan to develop and then see how he might fit into the squad next season.

“We were looking for something a little bit different in the striker corps, like an Allan Gordon or a Steven Lenhart — someone that posed different problems for a team. We were looking for someone a little bit bigger.” McDonough said of Bedell. “Cyle’s a very athletic guy and he can run behind, but Adam’s got good feet. We saw him at the Disney Classic last year and he caused our backs real problems. He caused us some problems in the U.S. Open Cup too. It’s just something that presented itself.”

Is it too late to see what he can do for Orlando City this season?
