Orlando City finally saw the light on Sunday, pulling off a 3-1 win over Sporting Kansas City at the Citrus Bowl. It’s a win that pulls Orlando back into a tie for sixth in the Eastern Conference and gives supporters hope that perhaps this season might have a few more surprises left in it.

Can we just take a moment and cherish the complete ridiculousness of this win?

An Orlando City squad without Kaká, Darwin Ceren or Corey Ashe managed to beat a Western Conference playoff team. The Lions beating anybody would have been a welcome sight at this point, but how the club managed to completely dominate Sporting was pretty surprising.

Brek Shea Makes Return for Orlando City

With the exception of Kevin Molino, it’s hard to think of a player who the Lions have missed more this season than Brek Shea.

After losing its star midfielder to a sports hernia injury earlier this summer, Orlando City has struggled with roster depth and seen its on-the-field performance decline. But Shea is back, and hopefully the Lions will be better for it.

Shea was subbed on for Carlos Rivas in the 61st minute and didn’t take long to make an impact…

That assist to Bryan Róchez came just five minutes after Shea entered the game, giving Orlando City a crucial two-goal cushion.

Hopefully, it’s just the beginning of a late season revival for the second-biggest name to join Orlando this season.

Darlington Nagbe Gains U.S. Citizenship, Awaits USMNT Call-Up

Portland Timbers star Darlington Nagbe has long expressed an interest in representing his adopted country — something the 25-year-old midfielder will now be able to do after gaining U.S. citizenship on Friday.

Nagbe was born in Liberia, but left when he was only five months old, eventually settling in Cleveland, OH, with his family. He was selected by Portland in the 2011 MLS SuperDraft, and soon become a starter and scored several impressive goals.

He could slot into the right wing for the USMNT, providing an alternative to Gyasi Zardes or DeAndre Yedlin on the flanks. While it’s unlikely that Jurgen Klinsmann would call up Nagbe for the team’s crucial Confederations Cup playoff with Mexico this fall, he could make his first appearance with the national side in January.

Slip-and-Soccer in the Brazilian Second Division

There were some concerns about the weather before Sunday’s match in Orlando, but that’s nothing compared to what two teams in Brazil had to deal with last week.

I’m not really sure why this match was even played, but we’ll always have this amazing highlight reel because of it.
