Welcome to the Saturday edition of Lion Links! We all know what happened last night (you were watching, yes?), and we couldn't be happier, so let's not waste any time and get into the goodness!

Mane Land Coverage

You know that we have your covered with our coverage from a fantastic 5-2 win over the New York Red Bulls.

Our sister blog Once a Metro covers the Red Bulls side of things and since things didn't go too well they decided it would be better to talk about Forrest Gump and show pics of puppies than recap the game
Kaká is Up for the Final Push

The Lions don’t control their destiny, but must still “prepare to win every game,” according to their captain, Kaká. With both Brek Shea and Kaká back from injury, plus a now-three-game win streak, he is looking to motivate the team down the stretch. It’s never over until it’s over, so good on the Brazilian for trying to motivate his team. He was able to do so last night; let’s see if the Lions can keep it going and #MakeItCount!

28 Days of Qatar

FIFA has decided to schedule the 2022 World Cup in Qatar from Monday, Nov. 21 to Sunday, Dec. 18. That’s four days shorter than usual for a World Cup, in an effort to disrupt clubs and leagues as little as possible. Yeah, that shouldn’t affect MLS playoffs at all, he said, sarcastically. The decision for the winter World Cup was made because, well…Qatar (summer temperatures average 95 to 113 degrees Fahrenheit). Sepp Blatter was going to hold a press conference to make the announcement, but it was canceled. I wonder why…

The Swiss take on Sepp

It seems that the Swiss aren't always neutral. Those sons of guns have opened a criminal investigation of Sepp Blatter "on suspicion of criminal mismanagement as well as — alternatively — on suspicion of misappropriation." To which the world replied, "duh." FIFA is cooperating with the investigation. Anyone think he'll admit any wrongdoing?

EPL: Five Matches to Watch

Just because we played last night, doesn’t mean there aren’t exciting matches this weekend. Check out some of today’s English Premiere League matches. Plenty of the big names, including Liverpool vs. Aston Villa.

Scarf-a-maniac

Frankly, we all need to step up our scarf game. Most of us have a scarf for wearing to matches. Heck, we may have one for the Lions, another for an EPL team we support, and another for the U.S. National Teams. But we don't wear all of them at the same time! Just so no one is thinking that some guy is out there sporting three scarves at once, or 10, or 20…no, this fantastic maniac wears 70 scarves to each match. 70! I have nothing left to say about that.

Herrera to Chicago?

Former Mexico head coach Miguel Herrera has been linked to the Chicago Fire as the club's next head coach. Herrera was fired after winning the CONCACAF Gold Cup due to a public altercation with a journalist in a Philadelphia airport. We hope this happens because he's one of the most GIF-able coaches of all time.

Well, that's it for today, though don't forget to check in tomorrow for the next Pride Pub. And most importantly, bask in the glory of a 5-2 victory!
