Happy October, Lions Nation! Okay, someone go wake up Billie Joe Armstrong now that September has ended.

This is my favorite month of the year for many reasons. For starters, my birthday is this month, so that’s always fun. Two, the MLB playoffs kick off next week — the MLB playoffs are the best. And three, it’s just a great month. How can you not love October? It’s got Halloween and the leaves changing, for crying out loud.

Anyway, this month could also be Orlando City’s last in their inaugural Major League Season. The Lions come into Saturday’s game against the Montreal Impact sitting four points behind of a playoff spot.

A loss and Toronto draw this weekend could eliminate the Lions from playoff contention, so we've got a big month ahead assuming they can stay alive on Saturday.

And now on to today's stories…

Cyle Larin Honored In FIFA 16

After an historic performance against the New York Red Bulls last week, in which he scored his second hat trick of the season and broke the MLS rookie record for goals scored in a single season, Orlando City rookie Cyle Larin was named to the EA Sports Ultimate Team – Team of the Week, sitting alongside some international superstars like Alexis Sánchez and Robert Lewandowski. Quite an honor for Cyle, or at least that’s what FIFA players would tell you. But really, congrats.

Sporting KC Reclaims The Cup

For the third time in four years, Sporting Kansas City has claimed the U.S. Open Cup, defeating the Philadelphia Union on penalty kicks Wednesday night at PPL Park. It was a close game for the full 90 minutes, going down to the wire in extra time and then penalties. For the second straight season, the Union fell in the Open Cup Final. They lost against Seattle Sounders last season.

Sounders Unveil Special Jerseys For Sunday's Game

For Xbox fans, Sunday’s Seattle Sounders game might hit a little close to home. The team announced on Tuesday that they’ll be wearing special Halo 5 themed jerseys for this weekend’s match against Western Conference rivals LA Galaxy. I’m not a huge Halo fan like some, I must admit, but this is still a pretty cool idea.

This USA-Mexico Hype Video Will Get you PUMPED

The United States and Mexico face off next Saturday in the Confederations Cup playoff at the Rose Bowl, and in case you weren’t already excited for the match, there’s a new hype video that will get. you. pumped. up.

Frisco, The Mecca of Soccer

U.S. Soccer and FC Dallas announced on Wednesday that the new National Soccer Hall of Fame will be built at Toyota Stadium. The news comes five years after the Oneonta, NY location of the Hall of Fame shut its doors.
