Lion Links
Lion Links: 10/15/15
Hey there, Orlando City fans! It’s your cool Uncle Gav back to serve up another round of Lion Links.
This week we’ve got some Orlando women’s soccer news, David Villa could go back to Spain for a loan spell this winter, and much more.
But before we get started, here our crazy non-soccer story of the day:
Niagara Falls has created a new mascot to get kids more involved in recycling. His name? “Totes McGoats.” pic.twitter.com/bDxEWgJ0gL

Orlando Pride
Rumors around Orlando City forming their own National Women’s Soccer League team are coming in quick, with an official announcement seeming imminent. Pretty much nothing about the team has been confirmed at this point — other than the team really, really wants Alex Morgan — but it looks like we have the team name. As first reported by Caitlin Murray, Orlando-Pride.com has been registered by Orlando City, and the name Orlando Pride was trademarked last week.
Free Less Than Jake
For those of you born before 1985, you may know the band Less Than Jake. Well, if you do know, and you’re going to Friday’s match against New York City FC, you’re in luck! The band is playing a FREE one-hour set in the Orlando City Fan Zone pre-match at 5:15 p.m.
Full disclosure: I do like the band, and I am kinda excited by this.
David Villa Heading Out On Loan This Winter?
NYCFC isn’t going to make the playoffs this season–mainly because they’re bad–and the extra time this winter means that their aging Designated Players will be sitting around with nothing to do. To fill in his free time, David Villa could head out on loan in Spain for the first few months of 2016, according to this report. Bear in mind, this isn’t actual news until it actually is news. It’s just noise. Nothing more, nothing less.
Cristiano Is Not Coming To Orlando — Probably
After recent rumors of Orlando City loving the idea of signing Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo for 2016, and uncertainly around his future in Spain, a new story has come out suggesting that Ronaldo would like to end his career with the La Liga giants. *sad face*
His current contract ends in 2018, when he is supposedly coming over to MLS to finish his career. He could play anywhere he wants until he dies, pretty much, so I don’t know at this point. Ronaldo probably doesn’t, either.

That’s all for today, folks. Uncle Gav will be back for more next week.
