Orlando Pride announced today its first addition to Head Coach Tom Sermanni's coaching staff for the 2016 season, bringing in former Major League Soccer veteran Khano Smith.

Smith arrives in Orlando from Southern New Hampshire University, where he was an assistant coach on the men's team that went 19-1-1 during the 2015 season.

"Khano comes to us with tremendous experience across many levels, including professional play, youth development and broadcasting," said Sermanni in a team release. "His experiences on and off the field are an important piece of the puzzle to help prepare the team for a positive 2016 season."

Smith, 33, spent six seasons in MLS with the New England Revolution and New York Red Bulls, scoring eight goals across 108 matches as a winger.

"This is an exciting time for professional women's soccer, and I am grateful for the opportunity to work alongside some of the league's most promising players and accomplished coaching staff," said Smith in a press release. "My goal is to help Tom build a competitive squad and make a strong impact on their professional development."

With time as a youth player development coordinator and first team scout with New England also under his belt, Smith will bring some quality knowledge and experience to the Pride, who will kick off play in their first NWSL season this spring.
