Lion Links
Lion Links: 12/21/15
Good Monday morning Mane Landers! I hope everyone is close to having things wrapped up for Christmas. I know I still have a lot of loose ends to take care of before the holiday gets here, so let's go straight to the Lion Links!
Pride Defender's Brace Helps Sink Canada
Down in the Natal 2015 tournament, host country Brazil won in the final over the Canadian Women's National Team, 3-1. Orlando Pride defender Mônica scored a brace off two headers from corner kicks — the first being the game winner. You may recall that she also scored for Brazil as part of the USWNT's Victory Tour with a header.
Pride fans should have something to root for on corners if she can bring skill like that to Orlando.
USMNT's Danny Williams Breaks Rovers hearts
U.S. Men's National Team player Danny Williams scored a tremendous goal for Reading and broke an eight-match streak for the Blackburn Rovers. Born in Germany to American parents, Williams was called up to the men's team by coach Jurgen Klinsmann. With exposure like this, he may get another call up to January's national team camp. Perhaps someone should ask him how American he feels before the camp.
MLS 2015 Year in Review
As the year comes to a close, MLSsoccer, com has two different articles which look back at each team for 2015. Matt Doyle broke down the year for Orlando City, highlighting the crowds at the Citrus Bowl and the play of Cyle Larin and Cristian Higuita. Speaking of Larin, MLS also named him Best Young Player for Orlando City. It seems the people at MLSsoccer.com feel the Lions only need to make minor tweaks to the roster, not a major overhaul. Someone should let these supporters know. It’s going to be okay.
Beckham with a Lightsaber
Finally, David Beckham was on The Graham Norton Show for reasons with the cast of the new Star Wars film. The host talked Beckham into crossing sabers with John Boyega, who plays Finn in the new flick. A good laugh was had by all, but I really wouldn’t call it a duel. Maybe I’ve been watching the Star Wars movies too much. No such thing, I say!
Well, that's all this links I have today. I hope everyone has a happy holiday, Mane Landers. Keep Roaring!
