Orlando City B Signs Defender Andrew Ribeiro and Goalkeeper Mark Ridgers

With the season fast approaching, Orlando City B continues to add to the inaugural season roster, signing defender Andrew Ribeiro and goalkeeper Mark Ridgers this afternoon.

"Andrew and Mark will bring a great amount of national and international experience to our team," said OCB Head Coach Anthony Pulis in a club press release. "We've been monitoring them for some time and we are really excited to have them join to strengthen our back line. We look forward to working with them and benefiting from their contributions."

The newest Ribeiro to join the Orlando City ranks is a USL veteran. Since 2013, he’s played for the Harrisburg City Islanders, Pittsburgh Riverhounds, and, most recently, Charlotte Independence. He also had a short stint with former MLS club Chivas USA back in 2014, but did not see any first team action.

Ribeiro, 25, is versatile player. The 6-foot-1 native of Green Bay, WI, led Charlotte in minutes played last season with 2,311 in 28 appearances. Over the course of his career, he's been deployed as a center back, outside back and defensive midfielder. His versatility will be an invaluable asset for Pulis when it comes to the bulk of the season.

Meanwhile, 25-year-old Ridgers adds a goalkeeper to the OCB ranks — one with first team experience in Scotland. After making his professional debut at the young age of 15, Ridgers has played for seven different clubs over the last 10 years, such as Heart of Midlothian, East Fife, Airdrie United, and St. Mirren, making 96 appearances. The goalkeeper has represented Scotland's U-19 and U-21 sides as well.

As of right now, Ridgers is the only goalkeeper on the OCB roster, but it’s almost a guarantee that Homegrown Player Mason Stajduhar will be loaned down when it comes closer to the start of the season.
