Happy Sunday! We are now one week away from the beginning of the 2016 MLS season. Orlando City gave us a little preview last night at the Citrus Bowl, playing Esporte Clube Bahia. If that doesn’t get you fired up for the season, I’m not sure what will. For now, let’s check out some links.

Lions Blast Bahia

If you weren’t fortunate enough to see it in person or check out an illegal stream out of Brazil, you missed one for the ages. Orlando City destroyed Esporte Clube Bahia, 6-1, on the strength of four (!) Seb Hines headed goals. All of Seb’s goals came on set pieces from Kaká assists and Pedro Ribeiro and Darwin Ceren added goals from the run of play. The Lions fell behind in the first minute but didn’t allow another goal for the rest of the night. Our Michael Citro has the recap for you in the link above.

Kaká the Roaring Lion

Kaká made a bold statement prior to the 2016 season at Orlando City Media Day on Friday, as he insisted that he is striving towards a better season and also that he is expecting a lot more from himself. He added also that he is targeting more goals next season as he is placed in more dangerous areas of the field where he can express his creativeness.

“For sure I have to improve and do better. Last year was my first year in the league, so everything was new. I had a new coach and new teammates, so everything can only be better this time. I prepared myself even during the off season because I want to improve my numbers–I want everything to be better than last season.”

Kayln Kyle: A Leader for the Pride

Canadian international Kaylyn Kyle talked with orlandocitysc.com about her past experiences, her present and future in soccer, her family and several topics regarding her life. Head Coach Tom Sermanni referred to Kyle as a ”tough tackling midfielder with extensive league experience,” and he has nailed it. With over 70 matches played in the NWSL, Kyle is one of the leaders for the Pride.

Tim Howard’s Return to the States

FINALLY. After so many rumors and long negotiations, it seems that USMNT goalkeeper Tim Howard is set to return to his homeland to pursue his career at Colorado Rapids following his drop to the second goalkeeper spot at Everton. If the deal goes through, the Rapids are set to have a true leader on their team which may reignite their ambitions prior the new Major League Soccer season.
