The Orlando Pride’s own Alex Morgan fired home the game winner in stoppage time to earn the United States Women’s National Team a 1-0 victory over France in Nashville, TN. In a game devoid of chances, Morgan latched on to a Mallory Pugh through ball and fired over charging French keeper, Sarah Bouhaddi, to secure three points for the U.S. in the 2016 SheBelieves Cup.The Yanks are 2-0 in the tournament, with a showdown against Germany looming.

In a rare role reversal in the first half, it was France which outplayed the U.S. and the French will be kicking themselves to not have been a goal or two up at the half. U.S. captain Carli Lloyd deflected an attempt to clear a cross in her own box, but her clearance found the post of Hope Solo and the ball bounced squarely into the six-yard box. France had two bites of the apple, but Marie Laure Delie and Eugenie Le Sommer both had their shots saved by Solo.

For some reason, France lost all their momentum after the halftime break. The French rarely threatened the U.S. defense in the second half, with their best chance being a cross that flashed across Solo's goal in the 89th minute.

Morgan's game-winning goal is number seven this year for her, tying her at the top of the chart with Crystal Dunn and Lloyd.

The win puts the U.S. on top of the cup standings with six points, with Germany playing England later today. A German win would set up a championship match-up between the U.S. and Germany on Wednesday night in Boca Raton, FL.

Pride goalkeeper Ashlyn Harris was once again an unused sub.
