Lion Links: 3/8/16

Citrus Bowl Party
So after successfully completing the #FillTheBowlAgain campaign against Real Salt Lake on Sunday, fans have another reason to celebrate, as that attendance was the fifth-largest attendance of any soccer game in the world this past weekend. The feat helped make MLS the sixth-best attended soccer league this weekend and really highlighted the power of Orlando City as one of the newest expansion franchises as well as the growth that is happening within MLS right now.
Larin up for Goal of the Week & Team of the Week
Cyle Larin started his sophomore season as he ended the 2015 season and his contribution to the score line managed to garner the young Canadian a nomination for MLS Goal of the Week, and his general all-around performance managed to get him a place in the MLS Team of the Week. However, his effort only garnered him a place on the sub’s bench for Bleacher Report’s TOTW.
U.S. Women's U-23s Win it All
With the USWNT doing well in the SheBelieves Cup, the ladies fighting for a place on that senior roster are also racking up their own silverware by winning the Istria Cup by beating the French U-23 team 2-0 in Croatia. The tournament provided a great opportunity for players like the Pride's Samantha Witteman the chance to show off their skills as they try to lock down a spot on the USWNT roster for the 2016 Rio Olympics.
FIFA Wants More Women in Soccer
Newly elected FIFA President Gianni Infantino has called for more women to be involved in football's leadership and governance at the second FIFA Women's Football and Leadership Conference taking place in Zurich. The ethos is in line with the new rules that were passed at last month's FIFA Congress and highlights FIFA commitment to change. Tennis great Billie Jean King believes that the current vacant spot of Secretary General should be given to a woman who has a record in helping gender equality.
And to end today’s links we want to wish Orlando City defender Aurélien Collin a very happy 30th birthday and share his opinions on faith, football and Orlando City.
