Orlando Pride vs. Western New York Flash: Final Score 1-0 As Alex Morgan Scores Game-Winner

I'm not gonna lie to you guys…this match was #bad.

Coming off a big home win against the Seattle Reign on Mother’s Day, the Orlando Pride (3-2-0) managed to stay perfect at home this season with a 1-0 win over the Western New York Flash (2-3-0), thanks to a late second half goal from Alex Morgan in front of an announced crowd of 7,841 at Camping World Stadium.

Throughout the duration of the first half, Orlando's passing was off, as many touches were too strong or players weren't moving well enough off-ball to catch up to balls into space. The Flash were not a good team, and appeared depleted in their lineup, but had much of the momentum and the majority of the quality chances. Namely, Lynn Williams had an attempt in the 27th minute that struck the cross bar on an open net.

Both teams struggled to gain any real advantage over each other, though Western New York came up with most of the quality goalscoring chances in the first half.

But, Orlando has Alex Morgan.

The Orlando Captain stole three points for the Pride with an amazing volley that managed to beat Western New York Flash keeper Sabrina D'Angelo in the 79th minute.

Morgan, who had largely been quiet during the match was fed a perfect pass from Kristen Edmonds and finished with a perfect strike over Western New York's goalkeeper to put the Pride up 1-0.

To go along with the goal, Orlando found the second half rife with opportunity.

In the 58th minute, Lianne Sanderson sent in a perfect ball forward to find Morgan, who–with just the goalkeeper left to beat–had a shot tipped away for a corner kick near the far post. Hardly a minute later, it was Sanderson again sending cross forward, this time finding the head of Kaylyn Kyle on the far post, who knocked the header wide.

Ashlyn Harris wasn't forced into action much in this one. After making three saves in the first half, she only picked up one in the final 45 minutes, but that one was a big stop one-on-one stop in the 68th to keep the game scoreless.

Overall, not the greatest game the Pride have played this season, but three points are three points, and good enough to have Orlando sitting in third place in the NWSL standings for the time being.

The Pride will be back at it again within the week, hitting the road to travel to Houston, where they'll face the Dash for the second time this season on Friday at BBVA Compass Stadium.
