USA vs. Ecuador International Friendly: Final Score 1-0 as Nagbe Bags Late Winner for Yanks

Darlington Nagbe's first goal in a U.S. shirt earned the USMNT a 1-0 victory over Ecuador on what was a drab night overall in Frisco, TX.

After a scoreless first half saw neither team create any clear cut chances, the Portland Timbers product entered the match at the start of the second half along with Bobby Wood, who provided the assist. An initial cross from DeAndre Yedlin was headed straight into the air by an Ecuadorian defender and remained inside the 18, which allowed Wood to rise and head the ball to the top of the six yard box to Nagbe who chested it down and smashed home on the half volley on 90 minutes.

Nagbe was active the entire second half and paired up well with captain Michael Bradley, who was able to drop back into his former role as a defensive midfielder when Nagbe entered the game.

You could say the U.S. did well taking their chances, as Nagbe's shot was really the only shot on target that tested Ecuador. Jermaine Jones had a shot from distance saved, but other than that there was not much for the sparse crowd at Toyota Stadium to cheer about.

Individually, 17-year-old Christian Pulisic and DeAndre Yedlin had solid games along with Wood and Nagbe of course. Up next for the U.S. is a meeting with Bolivia on Saturday in Kansas City. The match will be the final tune-up for the Yanks before they take on Colombia to kick off the Copa America.
