USA vs. Japan International Friendly: How to Watch, TV Info, Live Stream, Preview and More

Welcome to your live thread for the United States Women’s National Team friendly vs. Japan! The USWNT will square off with Japan in what is set to be a rematch of the 2015 Women’s World Cup final. The teams have not met since, and despite the title of ‘friendly,’ the game is sure to be an entertaining match-up.

The match will take place at Dick's Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City, CO, where Head Coach Jill Ellis will be looking to evaluate her needs for the squad going to the 2016 Olympics. Despite being ranked only seventh according to FIFA, the storied U.S. opponents have failed to qualify for Rio and will be looking to prove that they can still hang with the likes of their former final opponents.

The U.S., on the other hand, has had a dream of a 2016 campaign. The world champions have conceded one goal and are undefeated since the beginning of the new year. With the Olympics quickly approaching, expect to see a youthful lineup against Japan, one that will most likely feature the young Mallory Pugh and Rose Lavelle. Getting these young players the experience they need to compete seriously at an international level will be key for the US going forward, even if it means risking a loss on U.S. soil.

The Pride's Alex Morgan and Ashlyn Harris are on the U.S. roster. Morgan doesn't have to prove herself but may see some action. Meanwhile, expect Hope Solo to keep getting games until she reaches that elusive milestone of 100 shutouts.

Match Thread Rules:

This is your live thread for posting comments on the match. So use our comments section below to talk about the game in real time with our supporters. If you are new, welcome to our happy home! While you are here, please observe a few basic rules:

  • No illegal streams, they can get us in trouble, and nobody wants that.
  • Try not to be "that guy" who does nothing but spit venom at the team. Being critical is fine — every team can be frustrating to watch sometimes — but constantly being too negative can diminish the fun for others.
  • Keep it clean and fair when criticizing officials. You never know who might be reading.
  • Treat others in the match thread as you would like to be treated in the thread. We are a fun community and would like to keep it that way. There is a moderator, but we'd rather let him enjoy the game instead of having to play babysitter.
  • Lastly, while we do not have any rules against profanity, do not abuse this non-rule. Any language that is sexist, racist or homophobic will be swiftly deleted, and you may lose posting privileges. We are all in this together.

Enjoy the game. Go USA!
