Lion Links: 6/14/16

Even though our city is still in mourning after the events of the weekend, we will continue to carry on into a busy week while remembering those we lost. So to help you keep a normal routine in these times of sorrow, we take our daily dive into the world of fútbol with today's Lion Links.

One thing that’s certain after last weekend is that this city will come back stronger. We are a city that cannot be broken due to one individual’s actions and we must unite around one another in these dark times. Yesterday we took a look at our sports stars’ thoughts on it as the story was still breaking, and today we have word from our favorite team, Orlando City, as we continue to figure out how to cope with these events.

Whether you love or hate him, Antonio Nocerino is a current member of the Orlando City roster and is probably here to stay. Despite some lackluster performances, the 31-year-old Italian midfielder believes that he has a role to play in Orlando and he believes that he can help the club get where it wants to go. NWSL Window Moves

The NWSL transfer window isn't open yet, but with yesterday's announcement it will be here sooner than a lot of people thought. With the 2016 Olympics taking place this summer in Rio de Janeiro, the decision to move the roster window make sense, since numerous NWSL teams will be without their biggest stars and clubs will need to restock with overseas talent in the interim. USA Breaks its Own Record

Game 3 of the USMNT’s adventures into the Copa América Centenario against Paraguay was watched by so many people that it broke FS1’s network record for viewership. Over 2 million people tuned in to watch the USMNT defeat Los Guaraníes in Philadelphia on Saturday to advance to the Copa quarterfinals. Now that Brazil is out and the U.S. has home-field advantage and could make a deep run, expect that record to be significantly higher when the end of the tournament comes around.

The Ref is …?

The Professional Soccer Referees Association (PRSA), which is a fraternal association of referees, has accused the Professional Referees Organization (PRO) — yes, those people who keep giving us Ted Unkel — of violating the CBA agreement between the two organizations. They allege that PRO gave extra benefits to another one of our favorites, Alan Kelly, which violated the rules of the CBA. The claim is currently pending with the National Labor Relations Board and we will keep you updated as it continues.
