USA vs. Ecuador 2016 Copa America: How to Watch, TV Info, Live Stream, Preview and More

Welcome to your live thread for tonight’s Copa America Centenario quarterfinal that sees the United States Men’s National Team take on Ecuador. After topping Group A, the Americans will be looking to build on that momentum and reach the semifinals.

After a slow start against Colombia, the Yanks have scored five goals over the past two games and will certainly need to keep up the scoring against the Ecuadorians. Look for Clint Dempsey to be involved in some way if the Americans do get on the score sheet. Dempsey has two goals so far in the tournament and has helped set up a couple others as well. The 4-3-3 formation that coach Jurgen Klinsmann has opted to go with as of late has allowed the Texan to drop back into the midfield and take the ball up into the attacking half while still having options ahead of him.

Defensively, this will be another big test for the U.S. back four. The center back duo of Geoff Cameron and John Brooks have been outstanding so far, and both will have to make sure to pay attention to Ecuador's danger man, Enner Valencia. Many eyes will be on the right back position, as Michael Orozco is projected to get the start for the suspended DeAndre Yedlin, who got two yellow cards just moments apart against Paraguay. Orozco is nowhere near as fast as Yedlin, and it will be interesting to see if Ecuador will try to exploit that lack of speed. The change will make this the first different starting lineup Klinsmann has used in the tournament.

Should the Yanks find themselves down in this one, look for Darlington Nagbe, Christian Pulisic, or both to get in the game. Both players have proven that they can influence a game, and Nagbe scored the winner against Ecuador last month.

When these two teams met back on May 25, it was a pretty dull affair with few chances between both teams. Do not expect that to be the outcome in this one. Both teams will be out to win this one and U.S. fans will definitely want to tune in to see if the Yanks can make it to the semis.

  • Absolutely no illegal streams, they can get us in trouble and nobody wants that.
  • Try not to be “that guy” who does nothing but spit venom at the team. Being critical is fine — every team can be frustrating to watch sometimes — but constantly being too negative can diminish the fun for others.
  • Keep it clean and fair when criticizing officials. You never know who might be reading.
  • Treat others in the match thread as you would like to treated in the thread. We are a fun community and would like to keep it that way. There is a moderator, but we’d rather let him enjoy the game instead of having to play babysitter.
  • Lastly, while we do not have any rules against profanity, do not abuse this non-rule. Any language that is sexist, racist or homophobic will be swiftly deleted and you may lose posting privileges. We are all in this together.
