Orlando City SC Stock Watch: Harrison Heath Performs Admirably in 0-0 Draw vs. Houston Dynamo

It was another uneventful draw for Orlando City on Friday night, when the Lions faced a battle of incompetence with the Houston Dynamo head on to a 0-0 result.

Believe it or not, there were performances to get excited about despite the overall lackluster team effort. The stock watch smiles and frowns upon the individual outings as the Lions prepare for two matches in four days this week.

Rising

Harrison Heath – Little H came into an emotional match and performed strongly, keeping his head above the water while fans and pundits alike are drowning in the undertow of the recent turbulence surrounding the club. His two-way positioning was among the best on the pitch, and he consistently found himself clogging Houston passing lanes while finding his own to exploit moving forward.

We've heard a lot from players and people around the club about Harrison's motor and his talent. It's possible we'll see him to continue to grow with a longer leash as the season wears on.

David Mateos – An active night for Mateos, who found himself in the way for four interceptions, three clearances, and two blocked shots. He even won two aerials, which is pretty friggin great for a guy who is generally about as effective leaving his feet as an elephant.

Orlando City’s best at getting the ball forward in a hurry, Mateos completed 96.1% of his 76 passes, including 12 of 13 long attempts.

Falling

Darwin Cerén – Darwin was nearly invisible in this one. He didn’t record a single defensive statistic, though he did give DaMarcus Beasley a rough go. Wasn’t effective offensively moving forward down the right. An uncharacteristic 80% passing rate — none of which were threatening — showed he couldn’t seem to thrive outside his comfort zone.

Kevin Alston – Maybe playing Cerén more wide to the right is an attempt to mask what is no doubt the Lions’ weakest position in right back. He wasn’t a threat moving forward and did little of note defensively.

There are holes to address on this roster, and finding a steady presence at this position is one of them. Given the extension Rafael Ramos signed before the season, here’s to hoping he returns in top form.
