Report: Harrison Heath Out 4-6 Weeks With MCL Sprain

It’s been a tough week for Harrison Heath.

WFTV’S Christian Bruey has reported that Heath will be out for at least the next four to six weeks after suffering an MCL sprain in Orlando City’s 2-0 loss at the New York Red Bulls on Wednesday night.

Heath will not require surgery to repair the right knee, says Bruey, and could return to the Lions’ lineup before the end of the season. So there is at least some good news.

Heath suffered the injury late in the first half against the Red Bulls, and had to be helped off of the field before returning to play out the final minutes of the half with a limp. He was subbed out at halftime and was seen after the match wearing a brace on his right knee and walking on crutches.

The 20-year-old’s injury came almost exactly one year to the day of the knee injury he suffered in a friendly match against West Bromwich Albion on July 15 at Camping World Stadium. His newest injury comes on July 13, also just days after being named to the MLS Homegrown Game in San Jose by coach of the team Landon Donovan. The injury will keep him out of the MLS Homegrown Game for the second consecutive year.

Last year’s injury also kept Heath from joining Tyler Turner in the Homegrown Game in Colorado. Heath joins Tommy Redding as Lions who won't be able to compete in the midseason exhibition against the Mexican U-20 team.

Heath has started in three games for Orlando City this season, and each of the club’s last two matches since the dismissal of his father, former head coach Adrian Heath.

And now with an already depleted midfield from the loss of Adrian Winter, Pedro Ribeiro’s back surgery in May, and Kaká’s recurring injuries, the Lions will be forced to navigate yet another injury.
