Howdy, Mane Landers! It’s time for your TKIF (Thank Kreis it’s Friday) edition of Lion Links! Only two days until match day, so let’s see what’s happening in the world of soccer.

Ambrose and Rocha Signings

Much-needed help is coming to the back line as Orlando City signed Mikey Ambrose after acquiring his MLS rights from FC Dallas. Orlando City also acquired the MLS rights to Tony Rocha from Sporting Kansas City. Both had been playing for Orlando City B.

Shea Back on the Attack

It looks like the experiment started by Jurgen Klinsmann regarding Brek Shea as a left back is over. The Ambrose signing will hopefully mean that those days are well and truly done. Head Coach Jason Kreis will be alternating Shea and Molino on the wings depending on match-ups with the opposition.

Inchy is a Class Act

Orlando City’s first coach, Adrian Heath, showed all the class we’d expect from him in his recent comments regarding Kreis, Orlando City, and of course, the fans.

Chicago: The Good and the Bad

The Chicago Fire were quick to do the right thing when it came to a particularly offensive anti-gay chant popular with the Mexican National Team. It was a Pride celebration night, and management stepped up. This second link didn’t actually occur in Chicago, but it does feature former Chicago Fire player Kellen Gulley. Seems that life after MLS hasn’t been very good for Mr. Gulley, as in “soccer player turned drug dealer” not very good.

Orlando City Academy Player on Trial

And by on trial, we mean trying out with FC Groningen.

Adamolekun came out of the Orlando City academy and we wish him the best of luck.

That was Fast, Canada

We were all so enamored with Orlando Pride captain Alex Morgan scoring only 35 seconds into the second half that we forgot about a record-breaking moment earlier in the day by Canadian national team member Janine Beckie. Beckie took a pass from Captain Christine Sinclair and buried it in the back of the net only 20 seconds into the game. That goal put her in the record books for the fastest Olympic goal in soccer. Orlando Pride defender Josee Belanger was on the bench for Canada, and though she didn’t see the field against the Aussies, she’s still living the dream.
