Lion Links
Lion Links: 9/7/16
Good Morning, Lions fans! Today is a big day in the Orlando City soccer world, so as you await all the festivities of tonight, check out these Links to get prepared.
Orlando City Faces Off with our Friends to the North
Our men have traveled to Montreal to take on the Impact for the second time this season. Our very own Austin Siegel has a match preview that you can check out to get your predictions, projected lineups, and all things Orlando before the whistle blows.
The women of the Orlando Pride have journeyed to New Jersey to battle Sky Blue FC. This will be the first meeting of these two teams and the first of two this week as Sky Blue will travel down to Orlando to play on Saturday. This is an important game for the Pride, seeing as the two teams are seemingly equally matched. Tune into the NWSL YouTube to watch the game.
Finally, Orlando City B will be playing tonight in Wilmington in one of its final matches of the season. OCB will be ending its season on the road, and after falling to win in over a month it is vital that the team puts on a good showing for the last four matches.
Kevin Molino and T&T blown out by USMNT
Orlando City midfielder Kevin Molino got the start last night for Trinidad and Tobago in a World Cup qualification game against the United States National Team but things didn’t go well for The Original against our Yanks, who romped to a 4-0 win to clinch the top spot in Group C and a Hex berth. The U.S. got its goals from Jozy Altidore — who netted a brace — as well as Sacha Kljestan and Paul Arriola. Our man Gavin Ewbank was on the ground at EverBank Field in Jacksonville and has the full report. America will face Mexico on Nov. 11.
In other World Cup qualifying news, Orlando City striker Cyle Larin was in action for Canada and the second-year forward netted the opening goal for his side against El Salvador. Larin took advantage of a miscue and converted with a predatory finish in the box. Unfortunately for Larin, his side did not advance, as Mexico and Honduras made it out of the group.

Orlando City Purple Fan takes Over WFTV
If you have been to a home game recently you are most likely familiar with the “Purple Fan.” Orlando City has some of the most dedicated fans in MLS, who play an important role in the success of the club. Among these fans is a man dressed in a purple morph suit with a Mohawk wig. Because of his dedication to the club, WFTV decided to give him a microphone and follow him around on a typical game night. While we may be playing in Montreal tonight, you can experience a typical game day atmosphere with this video.
Steph Catley is Still Cracking Jokes
After an injury in the Olympics prevented her from continuing on with Orlando Pride, defender Steph Catley has returned home to continue rehab, but before going she made sure to get in on the Rapid Fire. Check out her answers.

FC Barcelona Coming to United States
Yesterday, delegates from FC Barcelona met with MLS Commissioner Don Garber to discuss the possibility of adding a franchise in the United States. The catch: Barca doesn't want to add a men's team, it wants to start a women's franchise. When asked why it would not consider starting a men's team, the FC Barcelona representative responded that in the United States women's soccer has more influence than men's. Rumors have circulated that Barca could possibly get involved with LAFC and Mia Hamm, a former FCB Foundation Ambassador. This is coming off the announcement that Barca is opening U.S.-based training schools and an official club office in New York City.
That's all for this Wednesday edition of Lion Links. Stay tuned for lots of action throughout the day and full coverage of tonight's games. Go Lions!
