Well, you've made it! Shortened weeks always somehow seem longer than regular weeks because you know you're a day closer to the sweet relief that is the weekend, but it goes by so much slower. Never fear, however, Lion Links are here. So throw off that tie, kick off those heels, or do whatever it is that you do to make yourself more comfortable and enjoy another day of Friday Lion Links! They're a juicy bunch this week considering I put an extra minute into looking them up just for you. That's how much I love you. Yeah, that's right, you.

Ashlyn Gets the Call

Orlando Pride keeper Ashlyn Harris has received a call-up to the U.S. Women’s National team. Having only played eight times for the USWNT, it’s good to see that Head Coach Jill Ellis sees her as a safe pair of hands following the departure of Hope Solo. Hopefully Harris can continue to show Ellis that she is a viable replacement between the sticks for the red, white, and blue. Pride captain and striker Alex Morgan was also selected by Ellis to participate against Thailand and the Netherlands on Sept. 15 and 18, respectively, but you already knew that.

Harris Ain't Happy

We're doubling down on the Ashlyn Harris news this week, so I hope you're a fan. One thing Ms. Harris certainly wasn't a fan of, however, was the concession of a late goal to Sky Blue on Wednesday night. Following the disappointing draw, Harris had a few things to say about the goal:

He's Baaaack

DUN, DU DU DUN, DU DU DUN, WEENOW WEENOW WEENUNUH. That, ladies and gentlemen, was my attempt at getting your brain to think it was listening to “Back in Black” by AC/DC, only using words. I am a real gem, aren’t I?Now that the mood is set, he’s back. Landon Donovan has signed with the LA Galaxy for the remainder of the season. The 34-year-old has decided to come out of retirement and cry in press conferences yet again. Just kidding with you, Donny. I would like to hear what you guys think about this move down in the comments below! Is he too old? Is this a good move? Should he just stay retired and continue making terrible commercials? Let me hear it. I totally read all the comments. Oh, and Donovan will be available for Sunday’s game against…Orlando City.

Lamps has Turned it Around

Lest we forget, Frank Lampard is good, people! This is a man who angered the NYCFC fans time and time again by seemingly caring more about pretty much anything else in regards to his contractual obligation to the newer franchise. However, Lampard has had a bit of a change of heart and has decided to start kicking balls into the back of the net again. Despite the fact that he wears an NYC jersey, I’m glad to see you back, Frankie. His two brilliant goals against D.C. were awesome, and it deservedly earned him the most prestigious of awards: SB Nation’s MLS Player of the Week.

Well, folks, they're dragging me away from my computer. They're saying I have to stop providing the Linky goodness for today, but don't you worry, I'm fighting. I'm fighting for your right to procrastinate a little longer, just as I do every week. Until next time.
