Lion Links: 9/16/16

Welcome back to another Friday edition of Lion Links! As we begin to recover from the 4-2 loss to LA with what is hopefully a win over Columbus, Orlando City edges another game closer to the end of the season. With a record of 7-8-13, the Lions find themselves above the red line in regards to playoff spots, just as the city of Orlando finds itself above the red line on the temperature gauge.

Now I know that was probably one of the worst jokes of all time, but boy is it hot. Here's to hoping we all don't melt this weekend.

Ramos Returns

With Orlando City continuing to struggle with Jason Kreis’ fast-paced tactics, Rafael Ramos‘ return is a sight for sore eyes. After a promising start to the season, Ramos injured his hamstring and has been out for almost three months. He’s recently returned to the OCB lineup and hopes to break back into the starting XI of the first team. Ramos looks to be the perfect fit for Kreis’ system when it comes to fullbacks. Glad to have you back, Rafael.

Sermanni Praises Edmonds

In the midst of a struggling offensive unit, Kristen Edmonds has put her goal-scoring talents on display this season. The Pride have endured a tough year filled with constant international interruptions, providing more obstacles than necessary. Despite the struggle, Edmonds has seemingly shown her coach that she’s precisely the type of player the Pride need to hold on to.

Wayne Rooney to Orlando City?

What I'm about to link may shock you. The following information is not for the faint of heart. Wayne Rooney has been linked with Orlando City. Though the expensive English dinosaur wishes to finish his career at Old Trafford, Rooney finds himself connected with a slew of moves abroad. This is probably a case of Orlando being linked with every big name player who even entertains a move to MLS in his deepest innermost thoughts and doesn't seem likely. For the sake of our midfield, which is quite good, I hope Rooney never puts on a purple shirt. The Manchester United forward will undoubtedly find himself out of Mourinho's plan soon enough, here's to hoping he doesn't end up here.

MLS to Change its Schedule?

The Fabian Castillo disaster has been a cloud above MLS's parade for some time now. Though most have mixed feelings regarding the various nuances that come with the premier American soccer league, not many are deeply educated on the subject matter. Transfers, player decisions, and international schedules have all come to butt heads with the odd MLS structure. However, ESPN's Noah Davis writes extensively on the subject in a fantastic piece about the issue above. Have a look.
