Welcome to your Monday morning edition of Lion Links. We're here to get the week started on the front foot, with happenings from the world of soccer. While there wasn't much new regarding the Lions, make sure you read all the way to the end. It'll be worth it, I promise. On to the Links!

USWNT Defeats the Netherlands

The U.S. Women’s National Team took on the Netherlands last night in a match that was certainly much closer than the 9-0 drubbing of Thailand last Thursday. After going down a goal early, the U.S. eventually took control, scored three goals, and went on to dominate most of the game in a 3-1 win. Despite a warning from U.S. Soccer, Megan Rapinoe did again take a knee during the National Anthem. While many question whether she should or not, Rapinoe is more concerned that the reasons for her protest are not getting as much attention as the protest itself.

Christian Pulisic Continues to Amaze

U.S. Men’s National Team member Christian Pulisic continues to show how special a player he can be. Pulisic also plays for the Bundesliga’s Borussia Dortmond. On Saturday night, he scored a goal, had two assists, three shots, and created chances for his teammates in the club’s 6-0 win over Darmstadt. With Landon Donovan’s return to professional soccer, is it fair to compare the two? Regardless, Pulisic is showing the world what he is capable of as a player, and let’s not forget that the lad turned 18 years old yesterday. Happy birthday, Christian!

Don Ovan Scores. In 2016.

Landon Donovan hasn’t played a ton of minutes since returning to the LA Galaxy, but in his second game back he was able to put one in the back of the net. He scored off his left foot shortly after coming on in the 74th minute. The Galaxy went on to draw with Sporting KC, and move into second place in the Western Conference.

English Premier League Results

As the MLS season winds down, the English Premier League is ramping up. There were quite a few interesting results this past weekend. Friday, Liverpool continued to show how improved they are as a team under Klopp by beating Chelsea, 2-1. In other action, Manchester City remains unbeaten with a 4-0 win over Bournemouth, and crosstown rival Manchester United has lost three in a row with a 3-1 loss to Watford.
