Lion Links: 9/25/16

Good morning Mane Landers, welcome back to the Sunday edition of your Lion Links. We have a full table of soccer news to get to with both Orlando City and the Pride playing yesterday. So tally forth good readers and let’s hit the links.

Orlando City Loses Third Straight

The Lions are reeling, my friends. The lads in purple have lost three straight after last night’s 4-1 flop at D.C. United and none of the three were even close. A team that had beaten New York City FC and Montreal by a combined score of 6-2 prior to this skid has now been outscored 12-4 over the last three matches. We’ll get through this together, though. Here’s what you need to know:

Pride Lose Season Finale, 2-1

Well, the team tried, taking a 1-0 lead into half but the Pride ultimately lost to FC Kansas City, 2-1, in the last game of the year. Jasmyne Spencer got the only goal for the Pride in Becky Edwards’ final game.

October = Fantober

Orlando City wants to thank you for supporting the team fully this year by making next month all about us, with something called “Fantober.” And really, we deserve it. There are going to be lots of prizes, including money and a brand new Ford Escape. There are stipulations to the prizes (i.e. the team has to score goals and what not), so stay tuned and let’s see what happens.

Richmond Kickers Lose: OCB has work to do

Well, Orlando City B didn’t get any help from the good old boys in Richmond last night, as the Kickers fell to Wilmington, 2-0. That means today that the young Lions have to beat a Bethlehem Steel team with nothing to play for themselves. The game is on the road, so the team will need its best game to clinch that eighth and final playoff spot.
