All right, I know that it’s now unofficially the off-season for those of us that follow Orlando City, Orlando City B, and the Orlando Pride. However, we do still have games to play, and the off-season can be a time of hope as well. So grab a danish and a cup of coffee, and swallow your disappointment because it’s time to hit the Lion Links.

Orlando City Out of Playoff Contention

It was a must-win game and Orlando City didn’t win. There would be no last game of the season drama for Orlando City this season. The Lions lost 1-0 to Montreal with two games left to play, and are now mathematically out of playoff contention. Here are the details:

Check in later today for Andrew Harrison's five takeaways from the match.

Orlando City B Exits Playoffs Early

Well, they were the only Orlando team to make the playoffs, but unfortunately it wasn’t for long. OCB lost to New York Red Bulls II, 4-0 on Sunday afternoon. It was the young Lions’ first season, and while they did make the playoffs, they weren’t able to find any postseason magic to keep things going. Sean Rollins has your recap.

USMNT Names Roster Going to Cuba

Jurgen Klinsmann has named the roster for the USMNT’s October friendlies. There are few big surprises with Jozy Altidore, Michael Bradley, and Christian Pusilic on the roster. Interestingly, neither Tim Howard nor Brad Guzan made the cut. Orlando City’s Brek Shea is also not being called up, but, unfortunately for Orlando City, that isn’t a surprise. Look for the USMNT to be in action this Friday for a historic match in Cuba. The Yanks will face New Zealand a week from tomorrow at RFK Stadium.

Whitney Engen is Off the USWNT

It seems that Whitney Engen’s services are no longer needed by USWNT Coach Jill Ellis. The veteran player was released this weekend from National Team duties. Engen took the news with appropriate poise, and will be looking towards her future, whatever that might be.

Carli Lloyd Wrote a Book!

USWNT player Carli Lloyd has published a memoir and is dishing on her views on pay equity, patriotism, and various teammates. We’d encourage you to actually pick up the book to support Carli, but you can get a bit of a feel from the article.

English Premier League Round-up

Orlando City’s season is winding down but the English Premier league is getting going. There were several great matches this weekend, including an 84th- minute comeback by Liverpool over Swansea. Check out the rest of the results here.

That will do it for this Monday morning, but check in throughout the day for more Orlando City news from The Mane Land.
