Good morning Mane Landers, and welcome to the Monday edition of Lion Links! I know you’re as excited to be here as I am. After all, It’s been quite a while since we’ve been able to start the week following an Orlando City win. While this win doesn’t do anything for the Lions’ season, it does still feel pretty darn good.

Orlando City Plays the Spoiler Role

There was nothing to play for against Philly other than to be a spoiler, or was there? Given that Jason Kreis will most certainly start to implement his own system in the off-season (including personnel), the players were quite possibly playing for their jobs. Fortunately for all involved, Orlando City came away with a 2-0 win. Here are the details:

Check in later today for Sean Rollins' five takeaways from the match.

MLS Draft Expansion Teams Flip a Coin

It seems like just yesterday that we were watching Orlando City enter MLS and pick Cyle Larin in the SuperDraft. This weekend, Atlanta United and Minnesota United flipped a coin to determine which team would have which acquisition advantages during the draft. Atlanta United won the flip and chose to pick first for the expansion draft, where the new club will get to take unprotected players. Minnesota then chose to pick first in the SuperDraft. Check out how the rest of the choices were allocated.

Who’s In, Who’s Out, Who’s on the bubble?

Orlando City has been out of the playoff picture, and played the role of spoiler yesterday. But, what about the rest of the Eastern Conference? D.C. United and Montreal Impact clinched playoff spots, while New York Red Bulls guaranteed a knockout bye. Over in the Western Conference, the Portland Timbers managed to keep their playoff hopes alive with a 1-0 win over the Colorado Rapids, while FC Dallas jumped into first with a win over the Seattle Sounders.

English Premier League Results

If you weren’t able to tune in for the action in the English Premier League this weekend you missed Chelsea blanking Leicester City 3-0, Arsenal sliding by Swansea City 3-2, and Manchester City and Everton finishing in a 1-1 draw. Check out the rest of the results here. Of course, one of the most intriguing matches happens today, as Liverpool takes on Manchester United this morning (10 a.m. ET).

Turns Out You’re Not Wasting Time on Your Playstation

It seems that while the various soccer video games were researching the professional leagues, the players in those leagues were using the games for their own research. Lionel Messi, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Paul Pogba, and Andrea Pirlo all are big fans of those games and some use them for research on unknown opponents and to try out unbelievable moves. Regardless, now you can feel better about the countless hours spent with that controller in your hand.

That's it for Monday, now get back to work! Or back to your game system, now that you know how much cooler it is.
