Welcome to the Monday morning edition of Lion Links! It’s always great starting the week after an Orlando City win. Unfortunately, we’ll have to wait until next season before we can do that again. So, as we say goodbye to Camping World Stadium, let’s check out what all happened in all things soccer. On to the Links!

Orlando City Wins Final Match of the Season

This was what Orlando City fans were hoping to see more of this season. Orlando City won its last two games of the season, after being eliminated from the playoffs. While it’s too little, too late, the fans still showed up and the Lions rewarded them with a 4-2 win over D.C. United. Here are the details:

Check in later today for Austin David’s five takeaways from the match and a photo gallery from Carlos Romero.

USWNT Crushes Switzerland Again

Carli Lloyd and the USWNT dominated the Swiss again, winning 5-1. Lloyd scored twice, with additional goals coming from Christen Press, Crystal Dunn, and Kealia Ohai. With a score like that, there were plenty of highlights, including Ohai scoring in her first cap, less than a minute after subbing in. Check out our match recap.

MLS Decision Day 2016

It was MLS Decision Day 2016, and the rest of the MLS playoff picture came into focus. In the Western Conference, the Portland Timbers lost 4-1 to the Vancouver Whitecaps. Thanks to that result the Seattle Sounders, Sporting Kansas City and Real Salt Lake all officially made the playoffs. In the Eastern Conference, the Philadelphia Union locked up their spot by virtue of the goal-differential tiebreaker. FC Dallas won the Supporters’ Shield and now has captured 2/3 of the treble.

Pulisic and Yedlin Making a Difference Abroad

On Saturday, Christian Pulisic scored in the waning seconds of second-half stoppage time to save a point for Borussia Dortmund against Ingolstadt. It was the USMNT striker’s second goal in the Bundesliga. DeAndre Yedlin has earned his way back into the starting 11 for Newcastle in the English Football League after that side was relegated from the English Premier League at the end of last season.
