Happy Thursday, y’all. Happy birthday to goalkeeper Kaitlyn Savage, who, even though she’s no longer with the Pride, helped the Pride out when Aubrey Bledsoe was injured and Ashlyn Harris left the club for the Olympics.

Here’s hoping she continues to get opportunities to further her pro career.

Julio Baptista Not Ready to Hang it Up

Julio Baptista is a Brazilian legend and, at 35, is one of the oldest players in MLS. However, as the Orlando Sentinel’s Alicia DelGallo writes, he’s not ready to hang up the cleats after his first year with Orlando City.

From DelGallo’s story:

"My plan at the moment [is,] I stay here," Baptista said. "But, I need to talk with the club. I think the club will tell me what it wants of me. I just [have to] wait. I've played on good teams with players 34, 35, 36 and the most important thing is the mentality.

"I said to myself, 'When I don't have [desire] to come to the pitch for training, it's time to finish my career. Or, if my body doesn't work.' But that's not now. I feel very well. I think I could play one or two more years, I don't know. Maybe this next year is a good year to know if I stop or if I go one more year. When you can't give more than you have, then I think it's time to leave, but at the moment, no."

Even though he’s getting up there in age, Baptista made it clear he can still be effective this year, appearing in 23 games and scoring six goals and adding three assists.

MLS Suspends Kendall Waston

The MLS disciplinary report came out Wednesday, and the league announced it has suspended and fined Vancouver Whitecaps defender Kendall Waston. Waston was suspended for “violent conduct” in Tuesday’s match against Portland.

The league also announced a fine for Tyrone Mears.

Whitecaps Lock Up Carl Robinson

Despite a disappointing season, the Vancouver Whitecaps have opted to extend their coach Carl Robinson through 2020.

Robinson, 40, has been with the Whitecaps for five years, and during that time he has established himself as one of the top young coaches in the game.

Roma Legend Makes Reality TV Appearance

Francesco Totti’s legendary career is sure to net him some big opportunities to make money after he hangs up his cleats.

And he already seems to be capitalizing on at least one of those. The 40-year-old is moving into the world of reality television, making an appearance on the Italian version of the hit show “Big Brother.”

A little odd to be foraying into reality television as the season is going on, but, hey, if his club doesn’t care, I certainly don’t give a damn. I wonder if we could get Kaká on some reality shows. I’d kill to see Kaká recover from his divorce by being the next Bachelor.
