Happy November, Mane Landers! We felt that since I finished up October’s Links, everyone would be more comfortable if I started out November as well. Hopefully you didn’t fill up on candy, because we’ve got plenty for you to dig into today. Let’s hit the Links!

Orlando City Annual Awards Ceremony

With the season over, it was time for the entire Orlando City organization to get together, give out some awards, and raise some money for the Orlando City Foundation. As they have done time and time again this season, Joe Bendik and Ashlyn Harris won multiple awards. The pair won Fans’ Player of the Year, and Players’ Player of the Year. It was also no surprise that Cyle Larin and Kristen Edmonds won the Golden Boot awards. Take a moment and check out the rest of the winners.

USMNT Players Performing at Home and Abroad

Julian Green and Bobby Wood are making statements about playing time with the USMNT, as both scored goals for their Bundesliga teams. Green scored one of Bayern Munich’s three goals in a 3-1 win over Augsburg to advance to the DFB-Pokal round of 16. Wood scored two goals in Hamburg’s defeat of Hallescher in their DFB-Pokal match. Jozy Altidore wasn’t about to let the young guns completely show him up, as he netted a goal and an assist in Toronto’s victory over Philadelphia.

FIFA’s Awards are Ballon d’Or No More

Earlier this year, FIFA parted ways with France Football and the Ballon d’Or. In typical FIFA fashion, they are putting out their own World Player of the Year award, along with several other awards. To be fair, from 1991 to 2009, they were separate from the Ballon d’Or, so this is just a return to form. Candidates for the awards will be announced Friday.

Beckham’s Miami Team Arriving…Eventually

Well, here we are, 1,000 days since David Beckham announced he would field an MLS team in Miami. According to Beckham, it’s still happening. Plagued by an initial lack of investors, a less-than-ideal location for the soccer-specific stadium, and being overtaken by Atlanta United, Beckham is still confident that all will come to fruition. Fortunately, MLS Commissioner Don Garber has echoed Beckham’s enthusiasm. I suppose we’ll just have to wait (and wait) and see.

NCAA Women’s Roundup: Florida Teams Edition

There’s plenty of college soccer coming your way this time of the year. The FSU women’s soccer team beat Duke, 3-2, on penalty kicks in the ACC Tournament to advance to the semifinal round. USF won its final regular season match, 3-2, over Tulsa. They head to the AAC Tourney, where they will open play against Cincinnati. The other side of the AAC bracket has UCF taking on SMU in the quarterfinals. The UF women will take on Missouri to start their SEC Tournament on Wednesday.

That will do it for us today, but check back later for more excellent coverage from The Mane Land.
