MLS Conference Semifinals Results

The Colorado Rapids were the first team of the day to move on. Shkelzen Gashi scored on a screamer in the 36th minute to bring the aggregate score to 1-1. Colorado then advanced on penalty kicks, 3-1. Montreal advanced to the next round with a 2-1 win over the New York Red Bulls. Montreal was already up 1-0 on aggregate, and Ignacio Piatti’s brace secured the win for the Impact. Toronto FC kept Canada perfect against New York City when the Reds took out NYCFC, 5-0. Despite losing 2-1 against FC Dallas, the Seattle Sounders were the final team to move on to the semifinals, with an aggregate score of 4-2.

USMNT Sets Roster

Jurgen Klinsmann has set the roster for the upcoming games against Mexico and Costa Rica. Michael Bradley will captain a fairly young team, that includes Christian Pulisic. Cameron Carter-Vickers and Lynden Gooch could potentially get their first caps for the National team. Kyle Beckerman and Chris Wondolowski were notable exclusions.

Is There More to the Ali Krieger Trade?

We had already reported that Ali Krieger had been traded to the Pride for what seemed like next to nothing. Now there are rumblings about why the trade may have occurred. A mere two months after Krieger and her teammates openly defied Washington Spirit owner Bill Lynch, she is on the Pride. After the Spirit played Seattle, the organization released a statement saying that Megan Rapinoe had hijacked the event by kneeling during the National Anthem. Krieger and her teammates released their own statement in support of Rapinoe.
