USA vs. Mexico World Cup Qualifier: How to Watch, TV Info, Live Stream, Lineups, Match Thread and More

Welcome to the live thread and more on one of the biggest and most intense rivalries in world soccer. The path to Russia 2018 starts tonight in Columbus, Ohio as the United States Men’s National Team looks to keep the streak of “Dos a Cero” alive for a fifth time in qualifying.

The rivalry is renewed as the Mexican squad looks to end that streak. Both teams come in moderately successful as the USMNT tied its last match against New Zealand and won a historic match against Cuba. Mexico’s last two games come with wins over Panama and New Zealand. Of course, the last time these two countries played was the “CONCACAF Cup,” where Mexico emerged victorious in front of a Pro-Mexico crowd. That gave them a berth into the Confederations Cup to be held next year in Russia.

The game is key for both managers as well, especially considering all the turmoil Juan Carlos Osorio has seen since losing to Chile, 7-0. This could be a “lose and you’re out” scenario for him, so he’ll be keen to get at least a tie in the first Hexagonal game. Klinsmann will see his side more comfortable than that but two bad results against Mexico and then Costa Rica in San Jose could result in his return to the hot seat. It’s going to be a big game, to say the least.

Match Thread Rules

This is your live thread for posting comments on the match. So use our comments section below to talk about the game in real time with other supporters. If you're new, welcome to our happy home! While you're here, please observe a few basic rules:

  • Absolutely no links to illegal streams. They can get us in trouble, and no one wants that.
  • Try not to be "that guy" who spews nothing but venom and hate for the team. It's OK to be critical, and let's face it, sometimes even the best teams can be frustrating to watch. But being overly negative relentlessly can sap the enjoyment for others.
  • Keep it somewhat clean and fair when criticizing players/officials. You never know who might be reading.
  • In the match thread, do unto others how you would have others do unto you. We are a fun community and want to keep it that way. We have a moderator, but we'd rather let him enjoy the game instead of having to play babysitter.
