Kevin Molino’s Top Five Goals for Orlando City

The career leader in goals in an Orlando City uniform has left the City Beautiful. Kevin Molino scored 42 goals in his six years with the club, including a 20-goal season back in 2014. We’ve decided to try to narrow it down to the top five goals in his illustrious Orlando City career. Let’s get started, shall we?

5. Vs. New England Revolution – 2016

This goal is on the list more for the buildup than the actual finish. The interplay with Molino, Kaká, and Luke Boden was probably one of the best team goals scored in the 2016 season and it marked the first game under Head Coach Jason Kreis.

4. Vs. Harrisburg City Islanders – 2014

Our number four selection features another fantastic buildup, this time for Molino’s 15th goal on the 20-goal campaign back in 2014. A beautiful give-and-go with former midfielder Harrison Heath, who headed Molino in on goal, allowed the Trinidadian to finish with a deft chip over Harrisburg keeper Nick Noble.

3. Vs. Phoenix FC – 2013

The first game of the 2013 season against the team then known as Phoenix FC (Now Phoenix Rising FC), which sported the likes of Donny Toia, was nominated for goal of the season in 2013. A feed from striker Long Tan saw Molino in on goal and with one quick shot, he curls it past the keeper to the near post to seal the win for the Lions.

2. Vs. Richmond Kickers

This goal for Molino broke the USL record for goals in a game, held by Dom Dwyer from the previous year. The buildup from the play came from Rafael Ramos, playing in his first game with Orlando as a left back. As the ball came into the box, striker Dennis Chin laid it off for Molino, who volleyed it into the top right corner of the net for a spectacular goal in Richmond, Virginia.

1. Vs. Ft. Lauderdale Strikers – 2016

Now this goal I chose since it was one of the better individual runs on goal that I could find video of. Molino starts out by winning the ball with a fantastic slide tackle, then he takes the ball into the teeth of the defense, beating four defenders and chipping the keeper for Orlando’s only goal of the match.

Honorable Mention – vs. Pittsburgh Riverhounds – 2014

This was one I decided to throw in there, showing off Molino’s fantastic touch on the ball. On this goal, he fakes out the keeper by making it look like he would try to volley the ball hard, but instead, he softly chips it over his head for a beautiful goal.
