New Stadium Bag Policy

The new Orlando City stadium is set to make its debut this season, and with it comes new rules and policies. In a press release from Orlando City Monday, the club has announced a new clear bag policy. This will not only help to expedite fan entry into the stadium, but it will also provide a safer experience. Here are some of the highlights from the policy.

The club encourages guests not to bring any bags, however the following will be permitted: one clear bag no larger than 12 inches by six inches by 12 inches or a one-gallon clear freezer bag (Ziploc or similar). Guests may carry a small clutch bag or purse no larger than 6.5 inches by 4.5 inches, with or without a strap.

PC Explains his Unusual Nickname

Many players around the world are better known for their nicknames over their real, given ones — from Pato and Suso to our very own Kaká. Now Orlando City's new player, Victor "PC" Giro, explains the birth of the two-letter nickname.

Eric Wynalda to Begin UPSL Adventure

Former USMNT striker turned analyst Eric Wynalda is set to embark on a new coaching adventure, this time with LA Wolves FC. After having previously managed Cal FC in the U.S. Open Cup and former NASL team Atlanta Silverbacks, the new Wolves head coach seems confident about his decision.

“The decision to return to coaching wasn’t one that I made quickly, so it was a matter of finding the right opportunity at the right time,” Wynalda said in a team statement on the appointment. “L.A. Wolves FC is a club on the rise. It has the right kind of leadership at the top, and creates nothing but opportunities for players looking to find a way to climb up the ladder. The club has all the hallmarks of future success, and with a shot to make a deep run in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup in 2017, the trajectory for L.A. Wolves FC is through the roof right now. There’s much to do, and believe me, the work has already begun.”

USSF Recruits EPL Player Development Scientist

It's no secret that the United States Soccer Federation is trying to close the gap between U.S. Soccer and the bigger, more-established European institutions. Well, they may have just taken a huge step forward. In comes James Bunce, ever heard of him? Neither have I. But this man is responsible for the development of England's youth system in soccer. One of the best in the world. Another of the many unheard areas that involves The Beautiful Game.

In the newly created position, Bunce will be responsible for creating a high-performance sports science and sports medicine plan for the federation and overseeing its enactment for all programs, most notably with the youth national teams.

"There is incredible potential in U.S. Soccer,” Bunce said. "Millions of children play youth soccer in the United States. Our challenge is to build the most robust performance department possible to maximize that potential, I was happy at the Premier League and had just been promoted, but the scope of this role was just too big to turn down.”

Christie Rampone to be Honored at Red Bull Arena

Christie Rampone, the second-most capped player in the history of international women’s soccer, will be in the pre-game ceremony before the USWNT faces England on March 4 in the SheBelieves Cup in Harrison, NJ. Rampone hails from Point Pleasant, NJ, which is just 60 miles from Harrison, so it will take place close to home for Rampone.

Liga MX Set to Expand Viewership in the U.S.

Liga MX is the most popular soccer league in the United States. But some fans have to get by watching games with Spanish commentary, making the experience a little less satisfying. Well, that's all about to change as Univision Deportes is about to start streaming Liga MX games on Facebook Live with accompanying commentary in English.

There you have it for today’s news. The new stadium is set to pull back the curtains, the players are ramping up the training, and the initial whistle is days away. Are you ready? See you next week, Mane Landers!
