Lion Links
Lion Links: 3/13/17
Merry Monday morning, Mane Landers! Well, the winter storm took our game from us, but that doesn’t mean there weren’t things happening in the world of soccer. Let’s look at the positive — Orlando City should have a better chance in Foxborough in September than they would have this past weekend. Anyway, onto the links!
Hat Trick for Alex Morgan
We’re all painfully aware that Orlando Pride striker Alex Morgan is playing for Lyon. Up until Sunday, Morgan hadn’t scored for her temporary team. She changed that in epic style, netting a hat trick in Lyon’s 6-0 win over Rodez to advance to the semifinals of the Coupe de France Feminine. Hopefully, Alex will bring that type of prolific scoring to the Pride when she returns home. Check out the video:

Alex and the Rest of the Pride
We know what Alex is doing, but let’s take a look at the rest of the roster. There are plenty of returning players like Ashlyn Harris, Steph Catley, and Sarah Hagen. There are also plenty of new additions to the roster like Ali Krieger, Alanna Kennedy, and Camila Pereira. And of course, draft picks Nickolette Driesse and Danica Evans are listed as well. Take a look at who the Pride will feature this season.
Orlando City U-18s Win Double Header
The Orlando City Development Academy had a pair of matches against Atlanta United and the Atlanta Concorde Fire this weekend.

Two wins, and all six points. That’s a great way to end a weekend.
USMNT Twitter Fight!
Oh snap! USMNT players play each other in MLS games all the time, but now Alejandro Bedoya started a bit of a thing when he questioned whether Jozy Altidore earned the foul that allowed Toronto FC to draw even with the Philadelphia Union. Words were said, and something about “going down easily,” from Bedoya, to which Altidore replied:
Anyway, I’m sure they’ll make up in time to work together for the USMNT.
Pulisic Keeps Scoring
USMNT player Christian Pulisic keeps scoring for his club, Borussia Dortmund. The latest goal came in a 4-0 beating of Benfica in the UEFA Champions League competition. Pulisic pushed Dortmund clear in the 59th minute. Pulisic has four goals, and eight assists across all competitions so far for Borussia Dortmund. The 18-year-old continues to show why he is an exciting player for both his club team and the USMNT.
Forever a Lion
While the tweet is about “ForeverOrange,” we in Orlando say “Forever a Lion,” and wish the best for Corey Ashe as he heads into this next stage of his life.
“I hope I made you guys proud.”

Well, that’s going to do it for this Monday’s links. We didn’t get to watch Orlando City this weekend, but at least that means we get to watch another game later in the year. Vamos Orlando!
