on

Cyle Larin turns 22 today and the striker had a successful birthday weekend that saw him score the match-winner against the LA Galaxy. Over the past two seasons with the Lions, Larin has been an ever present threat up top, which has led to interest from overseas clubs. He’s a franchise type of player that any club would be happy to have scoring goals for them.

In 64 appearances, Larin has scored 35 goals, which comes out at an average of .53 goals per game. Already this season, he’s scored four goals in five matches as he appears to be on his way to another successful season in purple.

Let’s take a look back at some of the best moments from the Canadian forward’s time in Orlando.

Rookie Scoring Record

Larin’s second career hat trick allowed the striker to break the Major League Soccer rookie scoring record. In total, he scored 17 goals in 2015, which included four matches with two goals or more.

First Goal

In his first career MLS start, Larin scored against the Portland Timbers. City won the match at Providence Park, 2-0.

First Hat Trick

Despite the match ending in a loss for City, Larin’s performance against New York City FC was one of the first glimpses of his ability up top. He used his size and skill to record his first hat trick and devastated the NYCFC back line.

First Goal in Orlando City Stadium

It was fitting that the best striker in club history scored the first goal at Orlando City Stadium in March. This goal also proved to be the match winner as the Lions held on to win, 1-0.

Match Winner Against LA Galaxy

We can’t forget the most recent moment of brilliance from Larin, as his volley lifted City to victory against the Galaxy at the very last.
