USA vs. Ecuador, U-20 World Cup: How to Watch, TV Info, Live Stream, Lineups and Match Thread

The United States Under-20 Men’s National Team kicks off Group F play against Ecuador in the 2017 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Korea Republic in the wee hours of Monday morning, our time. This 21-man roster consists of 15 players who were part of the 2017 CONCACAF U-20 championship team, and includes nine MLS players. Additionally,  defenders Erik Palmer-Brown and Cameron Carter-Vickers, and midfielder Gedion Zelalem, will represent the U.S. in their second Under-20 World Cup. 

“We’re also very proud that for the first time we get to travel to a World Cup as champions of our region. I’m looking forward to seeing how the team responds to that. Normally, we like to play the underdog role, and in this case, we remain underdogs but we go there as champions,” head coach Tab Ramos said. “I hope that we can really take this new experience as a good one and that this becomes more the norm rather than the exception.”

Orlando City has its own representative with defender Tommy Redding ready to play a major part in any U.S. run. Redding was a vital piece in the Americans’ regional championship, and with fellow center backs Carter-Vickers and Justin Glad questionable to play because of injuries, the U.S. will look again to Redding in securing the back line. 

Ecuador makes its third U-20 World Cup appearance, and its first one outside of its home continent. In its previous two tournaments, 2001 and 2011, Ecuador advanced to the Round of 16. The U.S. will need to look to stop Atalanta midfielder Bryan Cabezas, who led Ecuador’s goal chart in qualification.
