USA vs. Martinique, Gold Cup: How to Watch, TV Info, Live Stream, Preview, Lineups, Match Thread, and More

After drawing Panama in the opening match of the 2017 CONCACAF Gold Cup, the United States Men’s National Team takes on Martinique tonight in Tampa. Martinique is currently sitting on top of Group B, after a 2-0 win against Nicaragua, and a win tonight will qualify the Caribbean team for the next round.

This will be just the second time that Martinique and the U.S. face each other. The Americans won the first game, 2-0, off a brace from Brian McBride back in the 2003 Gold Cup. Martinique is a French territory, and can be compared to how Hawaii and Alaska are governed in the U.S. (not a continuous part of the country, but still part of it). Because of this, they are not a member of FIFA, however they are recognized by CONCACAF. This means while they cannot participate in the World Cup, they may be a part of the Gold Cup.

The Yanks are coming off a 1-1 draw with Panama, where the biggest headline came in the way of a former Lion. Ex-Orlando City loanee Dom Dwyer joined an elite company when he scored in each of his first two games. Only two other players, Alexander Rae and Eddie Johnson, have ever scored in each of their first three games. Dwyer will be looking to not only join them, but force his way into Bruce Arena’s World Cup qualifier plans.

U.S. supporters may recognize the name David Regis. Regis is a former USMNT member, earning 27 caps and playing a part of two World Cup teams, including Arena’s 2002 squad. The defender is now the general manager of Martinique.
