USA vs. Nicaragua, Gold Cup: How to Watch, TV Info, Live Stream, Preview, Lineups, Match Thread, and More

The final game of Group B is upon us, and the United States Men’s National Team has not had the best of performances so far. The Yanks look to make amends for two poor outings tonight against Nicaragua in Cleveland.

Luckily for the Yanks, they couldn’t face better opponent for the circumstance. Nicaragua has lost all five of its Gold Cup matches all-time, and did not score a goal until the other day off a Carlos Chavarria strike against Panama. This will be the first time that these two countries face each other and Los Pinoleros Albiazules will be the 97th different nation the USMNT has faced.

Two Americans are chasing historic marks. Dom Dwyer rested against Martinique, but will look to become just the third ever U.S. player to score a goal in each of his first three caps, joining Alexander Rae and Eddie Johnson.

Jordan Morris could also join an elite list tonight. After his brace secured a win on Wednesday, Morris will look for a similar performance tonight. Only five Americans have ever scored more than one multi-goal game at the Gold Cup, and the Sounders man will look to join the list.

Head Coach Bruce Arena made eight changes on Wednesday, and more changes are to be expected tonight. However, Arena will put the team first over giving players opportunities as the Yanks have not secured a place in the knockout round entering the final game.

The U.S. is currently sitting in first place in Group B, albeit tied with Panama with four points. Both teams have the same goal differential but the U.S. has scored more goals to win the second tiebreaker. A win or draw for the Yanks will qualify them for the next stage. If the U.S. manages to pull the unthinkable, and lose to Nicaragua, then the situation will get a little trickier.

Of the 23 players Arena has called up all but three have featured. It is possible, and likely, that goalkeepers Bill Hamid and Sean Johnson will not see the field at all this tournament. Matt Miazga is the lone field player to not see the field, but that should change sooner, rather than later.

A final interesting story line is where to watch the game. The Yanks are being pushed aside tonight by boxing, MLB, an auto race (on tape delay), and Star Trek. The Gold Cup match will air on FXX. If you have never even flipped to this channel before, this should help:

  • DirecTV 259

This is your live thread for posting comments on the match. So use our comments section below to talk about the game in real time with other supporters. If you're new, welcome to our happy home! While you're here, please observe a few basic rules:

  • Absolutely no links to illegal streams. They can get us in trouble, and no one wants that.
  • Try not to be "that guy" who spews nothing but venom and hate for the team. It's OK to be critical, and, let's face it, sometimes even the best teams can be frustrating to watch, but being overly negative relentlessly can sap the enjoyment for others.
  • Keep it somewhat clean and fair when criticizing players / officials. You never know who might be reading.
  • Do unto others in the match thread, the way you would have others do unto you. We are a fun community and want to keep it this way. We have a moderator, but we'd rather let him enjoy the game instead of having to play babysitter.

Enjoy the match!
