Orlando City B at Saint Louis FC: Preview and How to Watch

Last week, Orlando City B (8-7-12, 36 points) ended a 12-game undefeated streak. Tonight, the young Lions look to begin a new streak when they travel to Missouri to take on Saint Louis FC (8-12-7, 31 points). OCB hadn’t lost a game since June 20 until last Thursday afternoon when they lost 2-0 to the Richmond Kickers. The game was lost during a six-minute period which extended into and out of halftime. The young Lions now sit in eighth place in the USL’s Eastern Conference, the last playoff position. With only five games left, tonight’s game starts a final stretch in a bid to clinch a playoff spot for the second consecutive season.

Currently sitting five points behind OCB, Saint Louis FC hasn’t won since Aug. 23 when it beat the Tulsa Roughnecks, 2-1. In their last match-up, they fell to the City Islanders, 2-1 at home. This will also be a crucial game for the home side as it looks to climb the table and claim a playoff spot for the first time in its three-year history.

This will be the second time that these two teams have faced off in USL play, with Saint Louis switching conferences for this season. The young Lions hosted Saint Louis on April 27, with the game ending in a scoreless draw. This will be the third time Saint Louis FC has played an Orlando City team, after drawing earlier this year and losing 3-1 to the senior side in February in the MLS side’s final preseason contest — and the first game held at Orlando City Stadium.

“The main objective for us is to try and get a positive reaction out of the guys after the disappointment of last game,” OCB Head Coach Anthony Pulis said about the upcoming game. “Saint Louis are a very experienced team, got a really experienced coach in Preki, lots of know-how. Looks a difficult place to go but it's obviously a game that we're really looking forward to.”

Saint Louis FC will be playing without two key players in Konrad Plewa and Ivan Mirkovic, who are suspended for yellow card accumulation. OCB currently has four players (Seb Hines, Fernando Timbo, Richie Laryea, and Zach Ellis-Hayden) that are one caution away from serving a one-game suspension for yellow card accumulation.
